I, Onequa Crump, have created “Transcend 2 Transform Dance Fitness” as a nonprofit organization to surpass our own expectations by healthily transforming our minds and bodies through different styles of dance through Dance Fitness, implemented in communities across North Carolina at no cost to participants. I serve as the Executive Director/President of this organization. This organization will work tirelessly to fight against health disparities in these communities. Transform 2 Transcend Dance Fitness will coordinate and provide free classes to individuals of all ages, races, and demographics as an incentive to promote health and fitness in communities within North Carolina. I am a licensed dance fitness instructor and have been so for seven years. I am also AED and CPR certified through American Heart Association of America. I have instructed throughout the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.
I've instructed dance fitness at schools, churches, government agencies, fundraisers, community events, etc. I am certain that my years of experience and level of skill in the dance fitness industry will assist in redirecting the narrative, positively, in individuals’ lives throughout communities in North Carolina. As the CEO, this will be my full- time obligation to run, oversee, and coordinate all activities for the organization. I, along with other dance fitness instructors, will travel throughout North Carolina instructing dance fitness classes in different communities to work diligently to assist in changing the lives of others one city at a time. Due to the changes affecting the world, it is imperative that people exercise. The dance fitness classes instructed in these communities will cater to children and adults and will be instructed by a licensed dance fitness instructor. There will be no discrimination in individuals with mental health disabilities. They are welcomed to participate as well. These fitness classes will incorporate total-body cardio and aerobic dance workouts that can be modified accommodating all levels. Studies prove that an individual can burn hundreds of calories in a one hour dance fitness class. Physical health benefits include prevention of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, bad cholesterol, and increasing good cholesterol. Mental health benefits of dance fitness classes include the improvement of cognitive skills, reduction of stress/anxiety, and it produces an extremely high amount of mood-enhancing hormones/endorphins. Overall, this organization will be extremely beneficial in communities across North Carolina improving individuals’ lives in all spectrums.
